KERI KINSEY
LCSW-S

  • I came to social work as a second vocation, following a career in public education, and have been in the field since 2011. My social work experience involves a diverse set of clients in a variety of settings including public schools, the child welfare system, and hospice and palliative care. Currently, I am the practice manager and a psychotherapist at Moonstone Counseling. Some of my most professionally rewarding experiences have been as a mentor and consultant to social work interns and colleagues, which is why I am entering the sphere of clinical supervision for LMSWs seeking their LCSW licensure.

My supervision style is relational, supportive, and curious. I learn a lot from my social work colleagues and approach supervision in that spirit. I employ transparency, vulnerability and humor in my work with clients and supervisees, and have a special passion for working with clients experiencing grief & loss, chronic illness, and trauma.

I offer in-person and virtual group supervision sessions and would welcome a conversation to see if we might be a good fit.

  • One of the fields of social work that I really enjoy is teaching. I am an adjunct professor at UT and value time for case consultations, applying critical race theory to the social work field and to our client's situations, learning about our own therapeutic styles, and also learning how to balance personal beliefs with our professional selves. I have supervised BSW and MSW students in medical, school, and dual diagnosis treatment settings. I like seeing other social worker's passion for the field as well. My style is more direct, skill-based and collaborative. I want to ensure social worker's are learning new therapeutic skills and also feel like they can share different perspectives as a team.

  • I have been in the social work field working in a variety of settings and with multiple populations. I am passionate and have a lot of gratitude for the work we do as social workers and for helping my supervisees find their own clinical voice and flow. The clinical supervisory relationship is unique and one that must have respect, openness, vulnerability, and trust from both the supervisee and supervisor. Finding a good fit for clinical supervision can be tough AND essential for creating a positive environment where you can explore and form your social work identity.

My style is curious, authentic, and supportive. I value vulnerability, empathy, and self-compassion in and out of the supervision space. I work from an anti-racist, cultural-relational model and believe that we grow when challenged- so I will often gracefully challenge my supervisees. I provide individual supervision with opportunities for group supervision in the future. I have worked with adults and children in individual, family, and group settings, primarily specializing in grief/ bereavement, PTSD/ trauma, and eating disorders. I'm EMDR and IFS trained and a level two certified complex trauma practitioner. If you think we might be a good fit or would like to know more, let's chat!
